“Grace Kelly. Both literally and metaphorically, Grace Kelly was the cinema’s fairy-tale princess; beautiful, elegant, and impossibly glamorous, she transcended the limits of Hollywood aristocracy to attain the power and glory of true royalty.” – Rotten Tomatoes.
This year for Halloween, my friends and I decided to attend an Alfred Hitchcock themed party at The McKittrick Hotel. Every year the McKittrick throws a larger-than-life Halloween party filled with five stories of theatrical and musical performances, dramatic photo opportunities, award-winning design installations and a multitude of open bars. The ticket is a bit pricey but in my humble opinion, worth it. Anyways, back to the theme – I have to admit, I had never seen an Alfred Hitchcock movie so I set off to find my character. I started googling and quickly came across Grace Kelly. Grace portrays the leading-lady in several Hitchcock films and wore a plethora of incredible outfits. In particular, I was enthralled by the evening gown designed by Edith Head (winner of eight Academy Awards for Best Costume Design) that Grace wears in her opening scene in the thriller Rear Window. After a quick consultation with my mother, we went on Amazon to shop for the necessities. I have linked everything in the picture caption below. I am SO happy with how the costume came together! It was quite simple and definitely a showstopper. I hope I did you proud Grace Kelly!
P.S. I did end up watching Rear Window – it was a bit slow and not scary at all but Grace Kelly was perfection and I was entertained.
