I’m very blessed to be with my family during this time and we’ve done our best to be creative and make the most of our time together. I feel like I’ve returned to my 12-year-old self – tie-dying, K-NEXs, outdoor games, all the things I have not done in years! Hopefully this article will give you inspiration to keep yourselves entertained while you practice social distancing and stay home 🙂
PS. Our family is not complete without my dear brother Eric who is stationed at Fort Benning in Georgia. He’s working incredibly hard to make sure the soldiers and civilians on post are safe and protected during this time.
Don’t worry Eric, we made you a pair of tie dye socks too!! XOXO
Clue Night
We decided to dress as our characters to play Clue. We had an hour to figure out our costume situation. My dress used to be my mother’s from the 80’s. It had shoulder pads and everything. Michael’s shirt doesn’t fit, Renee has flour in her hair and Marc kept eating his beard but we had a blast impersonating the iconic characters.
Paint and Sip
I don’t have too many photos of this activity because we were so focused on our paintings!
We received all our supplies off Amazon, set up our TV to watch a free “Easy Paint” YouTube video and drank lots of wine. 🙂
Supplies
Tie Dye
Tie dye was an all weekend activity for 7 people for under $50.
For clothing, it is best to use natural fiber fabric (jersey, muslin and cotton blends are ideal)– the colors will be brighter, last longer and hold more dye. I did my best to get items that were at least 50% cotton and linked options below.

Computer Games
I grew up reading the Nancy Drew book series and now I play the computer games. But these games are not for the faint of heart. They actually require quite a bit of sleuthing and attention to detail.
Ghosts, kidnapping, bombs and villains of all kind, these games are always so much fun as my whole family (ages 23-60) gather around to watch the mystery unfold. The downloads are usually under $10 on Amazon and will keep you entertained for hours. I’ve included some of our favorites below.
Card Games/Board Games
These are the games that we have been playing most nights after dinner. Settlers of Catan has always been a family favorite but if you are competitive BEWARE it becomes addicting.
Movies
Movies we have been enjoying – classics and newer releases. I have not seen The Invisible Man yet but I’m trying to muster up the courage!
TV Shows
Shows I recommend binging! DISCLAIMER: I slept with the lights on for a few days after watching The Outsider.
