I remember I was in elementary school and browsing Old Navy with my mother. A saleswoman brought a pair of skinny jeans into the changing room and asked if I wanted to try them. She said they were the latest trend and soon everyone would be wearing them. I remember thinking “Ummm…no those are strange” but was too shy to actually say no. I tried them on and they felt WEIRD. They were so tight. Why would anyone want pants that are basically a second skin? Fast forward a few months, and the saleswoman was right. Everyone was wearing skinny jeans. I’ve grown to love them but sometimes the last thing I want is a tight pair of pants, especially during the warmer months.
Enter stage right, the denim I wear when I don’t want to wear skinny jeans – straight leg denim.
Straight leg mean the denim has a silhouette running straight down from the hips all the way to the bottom. They still have a slim fit but leave extra room to move, groove and avoid the suffocation skinny jeans sometimes provide.
This pair has become a go-to for me because of the high rise fit, fly button closure, the distressing and frayed hems. I plan on styling these for weekend looks, casual dinners, and cooler summer nights.
