New York Fashion Week has come and gone but the styling lessons gifted to us shall last forever! Sometimes it is easy to look at a runway show and think, “I could never dress like this” but that is certainly not true.

Veronica Beard is a brand run by sister-in-laws, Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard. This was their first season showing at New York Fashion Week and the vibe of the new collection was casual and relevant. It was filled with tailored jackets, novelty knits and printed dresses. See below for three layering lessons from the show and inspiration from some of my favorite fashion influencers.

Crop tops CAN be worn in the winter. Pairing a tighter crop top or a corset with a button-down, sheer underlay or turtleneck will immediately accentuate your waist and takes the outfit to a whole new level of interest.

When in doubt, turtleneck it out. A thin turtleneck (bodysuit preferred in my opinion!) will be your best friend these next few colder months. It adds a layer of warmth but also an extra element to break up your outfit.

Finally, mixing prints is okay! This will create a bold and fun outfit that will catch everyone’s attention. Patterns that are similar in design but different colorways and sizes create the ideal contrast.
