My entire career journey has been…interesting…to say the very least. Four years ago, I moved to New York City because I wanted to work in fashion. Quickly, I learned that working at the bottom of the totem pole in the fashion industry is one of the least glamorous and underpaid occupations a person can find (woohoo!). I do not regret a moment of it, but I do look back and wonder how my closet was always full but I never had anything to wear. I had thrown on a blazer every now and then in business school but I had no idea how to dress professionally without compromising functionality and my very low-budget.
Unfortunately, I no longer have the pleasure of lugging hockey bags full of clothing through the Macy’s in Herald Square or being left by myself in a warehouse in Secaucus, New Jersey to sort and steam product (I never met the ghost who allegedly lived in the warehouse…shivers) BUT my mission to find professional, functional and affordable clothing remains the same. The Who What Wear collection at Target is one of my go-tos for every occasion – office, weekend, drinks, dinner, the works. The spring collection is in stores now and these are the newest additions to my closet.
